Position Summary
The warehouse manager will oversee the safe receipt, storage, retrieval and timely dispatch of goods. He will ensure workplace health and safety requirements are met and take responsibility for the security of the building and stock.
The warehouse manager will plan the arrangement of goods within the warehouse and organize special requirements for certain stock, such as rejected goods, etc.
The warehouse manager will ensure productivity targets are met and maintain computerized administration and automated storage and retrieval systems.
The warehouse manager will manage teams of workers and deal with personnel issues such as the recruitment, training and discipline of staff and oversee picking, packing and distribution activity.
Responsibilities
establishing major objectives for warehouse as well as the overall warehouse Key Performance Indicators.
taking charge of the overall expense control of operations and to plan and organize the warehouse areas and resources for maximum use and efficiency
establishing appropriate policies, standards, job descriptions and procedures (SOP)
consistently reviewing the storage and warehousing requirements and assess needs for the future.
motivating, organizing and encouraging teamwork within the workforce to ensure set productivity targets are met;
training staff and monitoring their performance and progress;
communicating with other departments, staff groups and customers;
overseeing stock control and processing orders;
ensuring quality, delivery and budget objectives are met;
delivering and fulfilling objectives and directions from the operation's headquarters;
carrying out responsibilities for the use of automated and computerized systems;
responding to and dealing with external customer communication by email, fax and telephone;
keeping stock control systems up to date and planning future capacity requirements;
producing regular reports and statistics on a daily, weekly and monthly basis;
briefing team leaders on the issues for that particular day;
visiting internal/external customers to monitor the quality of service they are receiving;
ensuring the health, safety, cleanliness and security of the work environment;
overseeing the planned maintenance of vehicles, machinery and equipment.
Scheduling employees, truck drivers, arranging drop offs and deliveries and scheduling loading dock use of mechanized equipment such as forklifts.
Checking and verifying shipping records, handling questions or concerns of shipping shortages or overages and addressing any problems with inventory control.

Qualification Requirement
The ideal profile for this job is as follows:
at least 8-10 years warehouse and distribution experience in a manufacturing or logistics warehouse environment with a minimum of 5 years experience at managerial level.
possessing a Degree in Logistics/ Business Administration
being result oriented with good organizational and strategic capability.
Having ability to communicate effectively and work well in a team environment will be advantageous. |
