   The Staff Veterinarian oversees the daily health of the animals, and provides veterinary care and treatment when necessary. He/she also performs physical examination when animals are newly received.
The staff veterinarian also monitors anesthesia and euthanasia of animals when required, and provides training to other study personnel for such tasks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform physical examination of all newly arrived animals before they are released for study.
·   Provides daily observation of the animals to ensure the animals are in good health.
·   When animals are sick or moribund, the staff veterinarian will contact study personnel for proper action to take to relieve the suffering of animals.
·   Participate in the assessment of vendors to ensure the highest quality animals are purchased for study.
·   Ensure the animal care complies with the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals and departmental SOPs.
·   Revise SOPs as needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
·   A BS in veterinary medicine or DVM.
·   Ability to communicate effective both in writing and verbally with coworker and study personnel.
